The Vittorio
Emanuele II National Boarding School, Cagliari State School since 1848 Presents ... And the story continues... History essentially is nothing other than the wide
collection of individual stories. Many of the events that developed in the
boarding school have become part of the history of the city of Cagliari and of
Sardinia as a whole. In 1618 the Seminary of Cagliari was established, later
becoming the “College of the Nobility” and finally in 1848 the present
National Boarding School. These walls have seen four hundred years of history
dedicated to educational training, populated by an endless number of students,
many of whom distinguished themselves in the various arts and professions. There
are too many to mention all of them, but some have left an indelible mark and
not to mention them would be a sacrilege. From these we will mention two: the
historian Baron Manno, professor of the College of the Nobility and Salvatore
Cambosu, student during the thirties. The secret of the School lies in its
ability to adapt to the changing historical background.Currently Sardinia and
Cagliari in particular, have been brought to the forefront of their
Mediterranean vocation, and have put themselves in the central position of a now
wider territory that is the bridge between Europe and North Africa. The challenge
now lies in knowing how to respond to the educational and organizational demands
that society is making, based on rigorous training and solid values. Our
objective is to develop all our students into good citizens and to wager again: how
many of our current students will become famous? Like in an English College... The education model is both traditional and modern.
Like in an English college the youngsters spend most of their time at school
acquiring a cultural and social development. Their reference point is their
Tutor, a teacher who guides them in their studies and free time activities. It
is within this international context that the project to create an international
senior high school was born.As a result a vast new building, in Terramaini, has
been added to the school's historical seat based in Via Manno. The syllabus on
offer is characterised by the attention to traditional subjects such as latin
and the importance given to the language, culture, environment and art of
Sardinia.Of particular importance is the development of English and French. In
summer there are full immersion language camps with mother-tongue teachers.A
series of artistic activities such as the Ceramic and Drawing Workshops complete
the subjects we offer. Two multimedia laboratories permit the study of
information technology and have internet access.Within the school the students
also have at their disposal a music room, a darkroom, a theatre, an audio-visual
room and a cinema.Meals, which are prepared in a modern kitchen and served in
four spacious dining halls, are also a moment of food education.Sporting
activities are catered for thanks to two large and modern gymnasiums, one
football pitch, three five-a-side football pitches, two volleyball courts, one
basketball court and a roller skating area. This video has been made to transmit
a very important message. What is closest to our heart is to leave a positive and
indelible mark on the lives of our young men and women. Design
